A dedication was given by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland at the site of the new commemorative plaque, after attending a service at The Steeple Church, Dundee.

On 12 April 2015 Moderator John Chalmers gave a dedication of the new commemorative standing stone. Hymns were sung outside and wreaths were lain to mark the occasion. Representatives from the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria will also be in attendance.
